DES MOINES, Iowa- William Woods (2-8-2, 1-6-2 Heart) took the trip north to take on the Vikings of Grand View University (1-6-3, 1-6-1 Heart) on Saturday afternoon. The Owls and Vikings cemented a one-goal deadlock in the first of many meetings for these new conference opponents.
The Owls lone goal in the match came in the 57th minute when Woods was awarded a corner kick from the near side of the field. Macie Parmer, a junior midfielder from Columbia, Mo., set to send the ball towards net. Parmer elevated the ball over the row of defenders finding Tess Roberts who leaped above the line and headed the ball to the back of the net.
Grand View pushed the envelope following the goal from the Owls, sending several shots on net to test the Woods' keeper. Woods was able to stifle the advances until the 87th minute mark when the Vikings found the leveler.
The combination of Zoe Hargis and Sierra Hahn anchored Woods' defensive efforts; reeling in four saves in the match. While the Grand View netminder sent six shots away to close out the one-one tie.
Woods is set to take on a familiar opponent in Park University next Saturday. The all-time record between the former AMC members sits at 27-7-2 in favor of the Pirates. Kickoff is set for Noon in Parkville.
