CANTON, Mo. – William Woods men's soccer (6-6-3, 3-5-3 Heart) caught fire Friday night, erupting for five second-half goals to storm past Culver-Stockton (3-10-4, 2-8-2 Heart), 6–2, at Poulton Stadium.
After playing to a 1–1 draw through the first 45 minutes of action, the Owls came out of the break scorching hot. Junior front man Miles Andrews broke the deadlock just over two minutes into the half, burying his third goal of the season to restore the Woods' lead.
From there, the Owls' attack took full control. David Fink doubled the advantage in the 52nd minute off a setup from Benjamin Lachaize, then added his second of the night just seven minutes later—this time assisted by Andrews—to push the score to 4–2.
Lachaize, who opened the scoring in the 32nd minute off a feed from Kyle Kaemmerer, finished with a goal and an assist in another productive outing for the senior from France. Freshman KT Majeke came off the bench to notch his first collegiate goal in the 80th minute, while Grant Barron closed the scoring in the 88th to cap the commanding win. Barron also tallied an assist on Majeke's goal.
Owls' keeper Matthew Dworak collected two saves on the night while the Owls' back line held Culver-Stockton to just seven total shots. William Woods outshot the Wildcats 23–7, including a 14–4 edge on goal.
The result marks the Owls' highest goal total of the season and makes them winners of two in a row.
The Owls take the trip to Olathe, Kan., to take on #2 MidAmerica Nazarene Tuesday night.
