FULTON, Mo – The men's basketball team hosted the Wildcats from Culver-Stockton (2-9, 0-5 Heart) at Anderson Arena, looking to get back to their winning ways in conference play.
William Woods University (4-6, 2-3 Heart) found its rhythm early, jumping out to a commanding lead over the Wildcats before they would keep it close as they continued to chop at the lead of the Owls. With the momentum swinging back their way, Woods would end the half on an 11-4 run to head into the half with a 13-point lead over the Wildcats.
Tahki Chievous led the early effort with 9 points on 4-of-5 shooting and 5 rebounds.
Demarco Buchanan and Jacob Labounty added 7 points apiece and combined for three steals.
Woods continued to control the pace in the second half, maintaining a steady lead as the offense kept rolling. The Wildcats refused to go away, as they would keep digging into the lead of the Owls before going on a 7-2 run to cut the lead to just 5. With dialed-in shooting from the charity stripe, and 4 quick points from
Isaiah Payne to pull off the 81-72 victory over the Wildcats.

Oshae Barquet powered the second-half surge with 14 points, while
Mark Onyejekwe added 11 points, going perfect beyond the arc.
Riding their momentum, the Owls head to Parkville, Missouri, on Saturday to face off against Park University at 4:00 p.m.
