Cole Horton Filling the Trophy Shelf Early, Earns Another Honor in Freshman Campaign

GILBERT, Ariz.- The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced today that William Woods University Freshman Cole Horton earned ITA Central Region Rookie of the Year Honors. Horton, a freshman from St. Joseph, Mo., has already amassed several awards in his rookie campaign. Finishing the season with a 20-11 combined record in singles and doubles, Horton was awarded Heart of America Conference Freshman of the Year as well as Second-Team honors for his outstanding play. Cole was also named the week 1 and week 4 Heart of America Conference Tennis Player of the Week. 

William Woods Tennis is in Mobile, Ala., this week playing for a national championship at the NAIA Tennis Championships. Women's Tennis opens up against Holy Cross (Ind.) while the Men's team opens up tournament play against Dillard University.
