Paiva Pereira Picks Up William Woods’ First-Ever Heart Attacker of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - After putting together four great offensive showings at the Viking Invitational last weekend, William Woods University's Luciana Paiva Pereira became the first Owl to earn Heart of America Athletic Conference Women's Volleyball Attacker of the Week, presented by Tarkett Sports, announced the conference on Monday. 

Joining Paivia Pereira as Heart of America women's volleyball player of the week honorees for Week 2 were Missouri Baptist University's Valentina Navarro (setter of the week) and Fernanda Perini (defender of the week).

A committee of athletic communications professionals selected the weekly award winners throughout the conference from a pool of nominees submitted by each school.

Leading the Owls to four wins in the span of two days, Paiva Pereira put down 62 kills with an elite hitting percentage of .453. The senior from Varginha, Minas Gerais, Brazil, put herself in the William Woods record book, tying for the fifth most kills in a match with 22 in a 3-1 victory over John Brown University Saturday.
