CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa – (RV) William Woods (2-3-1, 0-2-1 HAAC) dropped its second straight conference match on Saturday, falling 2-1 to Mount Mercy (5-2-1, 2-1-0 HAAC) on the road.
After a scoreless first half, the Mustangs broke through with back-to-back goals in the 62nd and 63rd minutes to take control. The Owls responded late, with Francesco Dibra scoring in the 86th minute off a rebound following a deflected save by the Mount Mercy keeper. Despite a push in the closing minutes, William Woods could not find their equalizer.
Goalkeeper Matt Dworak finished with seven saves in the second half, as Mount Mercy outshot the Owls 13-5 over the final 45 minutes.
Your Owls return home Wednesday night to continue conference play against Missouri Baptist University. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at the NCAC.
