FULTON, Mo. - William Woods University volleyball setter Erin Treis and football quarterback Clayton Byer were named women's and men's student-athletes of the month for August 2025, respectively.

Treis, a senior from Imperial, Mo., is a two-time Academic All-American Midwest Conference honoree (2023-24), earned CSC Academic All-District in 2024 and used the month of August to surpass 2,000 assists for her WWU career. Helping the Owls to a 7-2 start to the 2025 campaign, Treis tallied 240 assists (7.27 per set) and 55 digs (1.67 per set) over 33 sets played.

A recent transfer to William Woods, Byer, a senior out of Placerville, Calif., earned the starting quarterback job for the Owls. Impressing on the field versus William Penn University on Aug. 28, WWU's highest-scoring game at home ever (23 points), Byer was involved in all three touchdowns, completing 23-of-37 passes (62.2%) for 298 yards, two touchdowns and three interceptions while rushing 11 times for 37 yards and one touchdown.

William Woods University Student-Athlete of the Month Honors are awarded to the student-athletes who received the most votes. Each month, athletes are nominated by faculty, staff and school personnel. These nominees are placed into the voting system and are selected based on the results of a panel of seven senior members of the athletic department.
