FULTON, Mo.- William Woods (2-4-2, 0-4-2 HAAC) hosted new conference rival Graceland University (4-3-1, 2-1 HAAC) at the North Campus Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon. Woods, who have yet to win their first conference game since the switch to the Heart of America, fell short 2-0 in the contest despite stellar play from their defense.  

In the first half, the Owls outshot the Yellowjackets five to three while the Jackets keeper reeled in four saves in the first 45 minutes. Neither team was able to scratch the scoring column in the first half, carrying a scoreless deadlock into the half.  

Graceland's front man, Guillermo Tejada, was the first Yellowjacket to light up the scoreboard with a goal in the 48th minute that snuck past Matthew Dworak. Graceland netted their second goal in the 59th minute on a deflected shot that Juan Gelves found for a rebound goal.  

Woods had several attempts at the net throughout the second half but were unable to gather any real momentum in the final 45 minutes of play. Miles Andrews and Mortiz Schafer came the closest to scoring for the Owls in the second half, with both shots being corralled by the Yellowjackets' netminder.  

Dworak finished the day with a lone save, while the Owls outperformed the Yellowjackets in almost every statistical column except for goals scored.  

Woods is back in action on Tuesday night in Marshall, Mo., to take on a very good Missouri Valley bunch. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
