Des Moines, Iowa – William Woods University (12-4, 5-2 HAAC) was on the road again in a quick turnaround against a tough RV Grand View University (16-1, 6-0 HAAC).
In the first set, the Vikings came out hot as they got out to a quick 5-0 lead thanks to a couple of Aces from Grandview. 2 kills from
Luciana Paiva Pereira would get Woods back into the Mix as they would start to trade blows with the Vikings, pacing them through the first set. However, the Vikings proved too much in the end and pulled out a 25-19 win in the first set.
William Woods looked to bounce back in the second to even the match 1-1 a piece. But the Vikings had something to say about it as they would go on an 11-1 run to put the Owls in a 19-point deficit. This would be too much of a hole for the Owls as they couldn't climb out and drop the second set 25-9.
In the third set, with their backs to the wall, Grand View continued the attack as the Vikings kept the foot on the gas. Despite a 2-kill effort from
Pamela Durazo towards the end of the set, the Vikings would be too much for Woods as they would drop the final set 25-10.
The Owls look to bounce back and get back in the win column as they host Haskell at home at 7 p.m.in Anderson Arena.
