Davenport, Iowa – The William Woods Owls (0-4, 0-0 Heart) took to the road to Davenport, Iowa, to take on the St. Ambrose Bees (1-3) and looked to get in the win column.
As the Owls kicked off to start the game, the defense stood strong as they held up the Bees on a 4
th down conversion to get the ball turned over on downs to get the ball back into the hands of the Owls. But St. Ambrose would not let that faze them as they stood up Woods for a quick 3 and out. The Bees would use this as motivation as they would put the foot on the gas and go on to put up a score of 21-0 in the first quarter.
William Woods would try to get things going against a tough Bees defense as
Clayton Byer found WR,
Bryson Nealy, for a 32-yard reception early in the 2
nd quarter. The Owls would get a block on a PAT by
Vernell Foster, and scooped up and scored by
Jorden Price for 2. This would be all as the Owls trailed the Bees going into the half.
Coming out of the half, Woods looked to cut into the lead as they made a QB change to
Gabe Serri. With Woods trying to get the offense going,
Gabe Serri found WR
Matthew Segovia for a 46-yard touchdown that would unfortunately be called back for holding. As that would be all the Owls would get as they went to the 4th quarter.
In the 4
th, the Owls would settle for a field goal from K
Justin Sharkey that would be good from 27 to bring the final score of the contest 82-5.
The Owls are back in action next Saturday at home against Central Methodist University at 7:30 p.m. for Homecoming.
