FULTON, Mo.- William Woods (2-7-1, 1-5-1 Heart) dropped a 2-0 decision to Clarke University (4-5-2, 3-3-1 Heart) Saturday afternoon at the NCAC.
The two sides battled through a scoreless first half before the Pride broke through less than a minute into the second frame. Jayden Black finished a pass from Laryssa Pritchard in the 46th minute to give Clarke the lead. The Pride increased their lead in the 80th minute as Samantha Miller scored off a feed from Hailey Packer to make it 2-0.
The Owls tallied six shots in the contest, with Megan Hughes and Tess Roberts among those testing Clarke goalkeeper Faith Krapfl. Krapfl stopped all five shots on target to earn the clean sheet.
William Woods keeper Zoe Hargis finished with four saves, all coming in the second half, as Clarke outshot the Owls 10-6 overall.
The Owls continue Heart play next Saturday when they host William Penn University. Kickoff is at 1 p.m.
