FULTON, Mo.- William Woods Women's soccer (2-8-1, 1-6-1 Heart) fell three-nil to William Penn University (2-8-1. 2-3-1 Heart) on Saturday afternoon at the NCAC.
Neither team was able to capitalize on any of their first half chances with both keeper reeling in shot after shot. Woods' Sierra Hahn in goal corralled five would-be goals from the Statesmen while the William Penn netminder brought in two saves to keep the score at zeros headed to half.
The second half was all Statesmen as they rocketed off seven shots, three of which found the back of the net. Woods was able to send five shots at the keeper in the half, with three being reeled in by Emma Billings and two shots falling just off the mark.
The Owls earned four corner kicks in the second half but were unable to convert on the offensive end. Lydia Simms, Zoe Lockhert, KG Malefo, Addie Robins, and Alyson Poe all tested the William Penn keeper but could not find paydirt.
The Owls hit the road in their next matchup, taking on Grand View University in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday to continue their Heart Conference slate. With only five games left in the season, Woods looks to improve their record in their first season in the Heart.
