FULTON, Mo. – William Woods (2-15), 2-10 heart) Women's basketball battled through a tough night at Missouri Valley (12-7, 9-3 Heart) but came up short in a 60–35 loss on Thursday evening.
Missouri Valley set the tone early, jumping out to a fast start and building separation in the opening quarter. William Woods struggled to find rhythm offensively, as the Vikings held the Owls to just 13 points in the first half.
William Woods showed more fight coming out of the locker room, matching Missouri Valley's physicality and competing possession by possession. Despite the Owls' efforts in the second half, the Owls would fall in the end to the Vikings by the final score of 60-35.
Mya Pflasterer led the scoring for the Owls with 14 points and 3 rebounds, while
Princess Brown hauled in 7 rebounds on the night.
The Owls will look to regroup for their conference matchup against the Culver-Stockton Wildcats on Saturday at 2:00 p.m., weather permitting.
