William Woods Drops Matchup with Wildcats

FULTON, Mo. - (RV) William Woods women's wrestling hosted (RV) Baker University for their first home duel of 2026. The Owls, in their first season under head coach Mike Eierman, were not at full strength but competed against one of the NAIA's perennial powerhouse programs.

The night opened with a dominating tech fall win for true freshman Cadence Calvert who earned her first collegiate home win in the 110-pound weight class. 117, 124, and 131 were all open for the Owls, leaving The Woods to play catch up for the remainder of the contest.

The 138-, 160- and 145-point weight classes saw Woods compete but eventually fall to the Wildcats seasoned grapplers. Junior Abby Piper went the distance with Baker's Wardlow in the 180-pound weight class, falling by decision 12-8 at the final horn. The last bout of the evening saw their victory cemented with a tech fall win to set the match score at 35-6 in favor of Baker.

William Woods is back in action next week taking on the Eagles of Central Methodist in Fayette, Mo., Wednesday night.
