Owls Earn First Heart Win of Season

FULTON, Mo. — Owls women's soccer (3-6-0, 1-5-0 Heart) earned their first conference win of the 2026 season with a one-to-nil blank of Baker University (3-7-0, 1-5-0 Heart). Woods tallied their first goal of the contest shortly after the half and held on to the one-goal lead for the duration.

Both teams fired shots on goal early in the contest but were turned away by the staples between the posts. Sierra Hahn reeled in her one attempt in the first half, maintaining the scoreless deadlock at the break.

Coming out of the intermission, it was Baker who pushed the pace. The Wildcats were awarded corner kicks in quick succession around the 51st minute, but the Owls back line stifled any opportunity for Baker to gather a lead in the match.

With the momentum swinging the Owls way, Woods leveraged this push for the lone goal of the match. With two defenders to beat, Megan Hughes was on the receiving end of a hard foul within the friendly confines of the box. The foul resulted in a penalty kick situation for the Owls.

Hughes, chosen to take the penalty kick, fired off a zooming shot past the right side of the keeper for the lone mark in the contest.

Neither team was able to convert on their chances in the closing seconds, leaving Woods with their first Heart win of the season.

The Owls return to the pitch next Wednesday at Missouri Baptist University.
