OLATHE, Kan. – William Woods (8-18, 5-13 Heart) traveled to Kansas, where they would defeat MidAmerica Nazarene (13-13, 8-9 Heart) in the final second, 80-78.
Woods came out aggressively from the tip, jumping out to a quick lead before the Pioneers would make a run of their own to tie the game up again. Each team would trade buckets through much of the first half before Woods would go on a run for themselves to go into the half up 45-37 over the Pioneers.
The Pioneers would come storming out of the locker room to retake the lead from the Owls. Just like the first half, the Owls would continue to trade leads with the Pioneers before getting out to a 10-point lead late in the game. The Pioneers would make a run at the Owls' lead, but the Owls would hold off the Pioneers to bring home the 80-78 victory on the road.
Jacob LaBounty would go off for 29 points and 7 rebounds, with
Demarco Buchanan and
Michael Brooks II each having 14 points apiece.
Isaiah Payne added 7 assists for the Owls as well.
Woods will look to ride this momentum as they head to Baker next Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
