DES MOINES, Iowa- #18 Men's Tennis, coming off a dominating performance against Grand View University, matches up with #14 Morningside College Monday morning. The Owls fell 3-4 in the matchup, noting their first team loss of the spring.
The Mustangs took the doubles point winning in #1 doubles in consecutive sets before being pushed the limit in #2 doubles where Tobias Hajek and Paulo Lopes Ferreira went the distance with Santiago Minetti and Gabe Whiston.
Morningside took wins in #1 and #2 doubles against Duarte Melo and Noah Burton before Woods could respond with a win from Tomas Guadagni in consecutive sets against his opponent to tally a 3-1 match scoreline. #6 singles was the next match to finish with Jesper Seger carrying the win for the Owls in consecutive sets to shrink the lead to one match in the contest. Lopes Ferreira, in the #5 singles, dropped a close contest to cement the 4-3 win for the Mustangs.
The Owls have a short hiatus before their next contest, hosting the University of Saint Mary (Kan.) on February 28th at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex. First serve at 10 a.m.
