FULTON, Mo.- #18 William Woods men's tennis completed a 7-0 sweep in their first home match of the season. The Owls, propelled by stellar top play, lost only three sets in the rout of the Spires of the University of Saint Mary (Kan.).  

 The nationally ranked Owls swept the doubles point on decisive wins from the #1 pairing in Noah Burton and Duarte Melo as well as #2 pair in Tobias Hajek and Cole Horton. The last duo to end, not counting in the box score, Jesper Seger and Thomas Geukemeijer defeated their opponent 6-4 to round out doubles play.  

Riding the wave from a doubles sweep, the Owls continued to dominate performance well into singles play as well. Horton was the first to finish in singles play with a commanding two-set win over the Spires #3 singles player. The top half of The Woods' lineup, Melo and Burton, went the distance with their opponents before winning in three sets to take the 5-0 match lead. Geukemeijer, Noel Schoene, and Alexander Hristov rounded out singles play with individual wins to cement the 7-0 sweep of the University of Saint Mary.  

William Woods returns in the morning as they travel to Springfield, Mo., to take on NCAA DII opponent Drury University.
