Owls Drop Final Game of The Season

FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods (2-23, 2-18 Heart) fell to Mount Mercy (11-16, 7-13 Heart) on Saturday, 61-50, as we celebrated our Seniors Jersee Wren, Mariah Prince, and Megan Hughes, for senior day.

Mount Mercy and the Owls would match each other in the first quarter as they would each put up 8 points in the first quarter. The Owls would outscore the Mustangs in the second quarter 18-13 to give the Owls the lead heading into the half.

Coming out of the break, Mount Mercy found its rhythm offensively, pouring in 23 third-quarter points to stretch the lead to double digits. The Owls battled in the fourth quarter, but were unable to overcome the deficit from the thrid quarter as the Mustangs secured the 61-50 victory.

Layla Young led the way for William Woods with 12 points and five rebounds. Senior Mariah Prince recorded a double-double with 10 points and a team-high 10 rebounds while adding three assists.

This will wrap up the Season for the Owls and Coach Morgan Scott's first season coaching the Owls, as she looks to come back next year, new and improved.
