FULTON, Mo.- William Woods track and field athlete, Anna Hart and men's wrestling's Austen Wetzel were named January Student-Athletes of the Month.
Hart, an NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships participant from a year ago, continued her excellence in the racewalk throughout two races in the month. Race one saw Hart hit the NAIA 'A' Standard, earning her an automatic berth at the 2026 NAIA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Gainesville, Fla. In race two, Anna topped her own marks from race one with another NAIA 'A' Standard result.
Wetzel, the Rock Bridge High School graduate and former NCAA DIII All-American, grappled an amazing month. The #13 wrestler in the 184-pound weight class, won 14 matches in the month, losing only one.
William Woods University Student-Athlete of the Month Honors are awarded to the student-athletes who received the most votes. Each month, athletes are nominated by faculty, staff and school personnel. These nominees are placed into the voting system and are selected based on the results of a panel of seven senior members of the athletic department.
