DES MOINES, Iowa – William Woods (7-18, 4-13 Heart) basketball wrapped up its road trip Saturday afternoon, falling 85–67 to Grand View (17-7, 12-5 Heart).
The Owls stayed competitive early, trading buckets with the Vikings throughout the opening stretch. Grand View used a strong close to the first half to take a 38–31 lead into the break, with the Owls looking to take the lead back after the break.
William Woods battled in the second half, knocking down shots from deep and working to stay within reach, but Grand View's efficiency on the offensive end proved to be the difference as the Vikings outscored the Owls 47–36 over the final 20 minutes. With the defense struggling, the Owls would fall to the Vikings 85-67 when the final buzzer sounded.
Brock Davis led the scoring charge with 17 points, going 5-10 from behind the arc with 3 blocks as well.
Isaiah Payne was second in scoring as he came off the bench with 10 points for the Owls
Woods will be back in action as they head to Olathe to play MidAmerica Nazarene on Wednesday for a 7:30 p.m. tip.
