McPHERSON, Kan.- William Woods men's tennis closed out their spring break trip with a stellar win over the Bulldogs in McPherson, Kansas. The Owls took a commanding 7-0 win, finishing the road trip at a 4-0 mark; taking each match at a 7-0 scoreline.
The Woods took the early lead, dominating the doubles point with wins from #1 pairing of Noah Burton and Duarte Melo, as well as the #2 pairing of Cole Horton and Tobias Hajek. The Owls also won the #3 doubles with Jesper Seger and Bruno Matta taking a 6-3 win over their opponents, though the match did not contribute to the final score.
The Owls continued to win every set but one in singles play with #1 Melo, #3 Burton, #4 Thomas Geukemeijer, #5 Tomas Guadagni, and #6 Seger winning in consecutive sets. Horton lost the lone set for the Owls but was able to best his opponent in #2 singles in sets two and three.
William Woods moves to 6-0 all-time versus the Bulldogs and pushes their overall 2025-26 record to 7-3. The Owls return home for a match Friday against a young, but thriving tennis program in Goshen College (Ind.); first serve is set for 11 a.m. at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.
