Kent Named WWU Director of Sports Medicine

FULTON, Mo.- William Woods University Athletics is pleased to announce the hiring of Jacob Kent as the new Director of Sports Medicine. This position is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the athletic training facility and staff and is replacing the former Head Athletic Trainer Position. The alteration of title illustrates William Woods' commitment to progress and innovation within the field.  

Kent, coming in with a wealth of experience across multiple divisions and organizations, most recently served as the Associate Director of Sports Medicine at cross-town school Westminster College. While as a Blue Jay, Kent served as the clinical coordinator as well as the lead trainer for the Westminster football program. Prior to his time in Fulton, he was the Director of Athletic Training at Waldorf University and Buena Vista University (Iowa).

Prior to his time with Buena Vista University, Kent operated out of the Northwest Iowa Bone, Joint, and Sports Surgeon facility where he was contracted out to serve as the assistant athletic trainer to the Buena Vista men's and women's soccer teams as well as softball and tennis programs.  

Kent graduated from fellow Heart of America Athletic Conference member Central Methodist University in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in athletic training. As an Eagle, Kent played on the CMU football team, helping them achieve a 15-28 record. After his time in Fayette, he earned his master's degree in Kinesiology from Avila University in Kansas City.
