Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Pirates Best Owls

PARKVILLE, Mo.— William Woods women's soccer (2-5, 0-4 Heart) continued their Heart of America Athletic Conference schedule Wednesday evening, with a roach matchup against former AMC member Park University (1-5-1, 1-2-1 Heart). The Pirates hold the all-time series 7-28-2, including the current three game-winning streak over the Owls.

The Pirates tested Sierra Hahn early, firing their first shot on goal just two minutes after the opening whistle. Hahn was able to corral the shot, leaving the score in a deadlock. Park continued their offensive efforts for the remainder of the first half, firing 11 shots at the Owls keeper. Woods' netminder collected seven saves in the half, only allowing the one blemish.

On the other half of the pitch, William Woods offense took advantage of a goal kick transition to even the game at one goal. Transfer junior Kirsten Kramer found the equalizer in the 37th minute, off an immaculate pass from Olivia Menard. Neither side was able to change the tide of the game in the final minutes of the first half, leaving the game deadlocked.

The second half told a different tale, as neither team accumulated the traction offensively. Up to the 72nd minute, only one-shot from either team was placed on frame. That changed in the 73rd minute as Park found the would-be winner Lillian Porsch, a senior from Germany, fired a shot just pas Hahn in net after a setup from Preslee Ziegler.

Both teams put shots on frame in the closing minutes, but were turned away by the woman between the posts. In total Hahn turned away 10 shots on frame, and the Park keeper sent two would-be equalizers aside.

William Woods returns this weekend with a Sunday matinee matchup against Graceland University to close out homecoming weekend. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at the NCAC.
