BELLEVILLE, Ill. -- The William Woods University volleyball team picked up its fifth consecutive win on Wednesday night behind double-doubles from
Sarah Wehmeyer (Carrollton, Texas) and
Emily Becker (Belleville, Ill.) as they downed Lindenwood University-Belleville by a 3-1 (25-14, 25-21, 24-26, 25-9) margin. Wehmeyer posted 10 digs and 35 assists on the night, with Becker narrowly missing a triple-double with 10 kills, 10 digs and nine total blocks.
The Owls also saw solid performances from
Amanda Henley (Jefferson City, Mo.) and
Kristen Bauer (St. Charles, Mo.) on the night. Henley collected 34 digs, the third-best single-match total for a four set match in WWU history. Bauer added 10 kills behind a team-best attack percentage of .400.
William Woods returns home for four straight matches, hosting the Mid-Mo Triangular presented by Red Weir Athletic Supplies on Friday. The Owls get the tournament underway with a match against Central Methodist University at 4 p.m., with Central Methodist taking on Westminster College at 6 p.m. WWU will battle Westminster to close out the evening, with first serve set for 8 p.m.
