HANNIBAL, Mo. -- The William Woods University volleyball team will put its perfect American Midwest Conference record on the line, as they travel to Hannibal-LaGrange University for a Tuesday night AMC showdown. First serve for the match is scheduled for 7 p.m.
William Woods (11-14, 5-0 AMC) was able to keep its perfect AMC record intact this past weekend as they scored a pair of straight set defeats over AMC newcomers Mid-Continent University and Freed-Hardeman University. The Owls got a record-breaking performance from junior outside hitter Kristen Bauer, as she set the school record for most kills in a three set match on Saturday with 19 against Freed-Hardeman.
Bauer had a dominating weekend as she collected 26 kills in the two matches. She was extremely efficient on Saturday as she hit a career-best .548 against the Lady Lions.
Hannibal-LaGrange (7-15, 2-2 AMC) comes into Tuesday's match on a two-match losing streak after dropping a pair to Baker University and AMC foe Lyon College. The Lady Trojans are in the midst of a six-match homestretch, where they are so far 1-3. Most recently, HLGU lost a straight set match to Baker University. Lacey Hagan's nine kills led the team.
Lindsay Smith leads the team in kills with 275 through 22 games. Her 4.37 kills per set ratio is the fourth-highest in the NAIA.
Setter Kelly Gould has collected a team-high 686 assists, while Josie Corbett leads the team in digs with 274.
