Owls Drop Second Match Of Grand View Tournament Against Viterbo

Box Score DES MOINES, Iowa.—The William Woods volleyball team dropped its second straight game at the Grand View University Tournament, falling to Viterbo University in straight sets 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-23).

Freshman setter Sara Stevenson's double-double performance wasn't enough to lift William Woods (12-16) past Viterbo University (RV), as the Owls fell in straight sets. It was the second straight set defeat for WWU, as they dropped a 3-0 decision to no. 19-ranked and host school Grand View University earlier in the afternoon.

It was the first time in two matches that Stevenson had collected a double-double, as she handed out a team-high 25 assists to go along with 13 digs.

She wasn't the only Owl to post double-digit digs on the day, as junior libero Abbie O'Mara, who entered Friday's matches with the second-most digs in the NAIA, collected a team-best 23 digs.

William Woods was unable to get any player in double-digits in kills, as sophomore Emma Aschenbrenner led the team with eight. Fellow classmate, Emily Becker, collected seven kills, and junior outside hitter Kristen Bauer posted six.

The Owls will look for their first win of the tournament tomorrow morning as they face-off against the University of Jamestown at 10 a.m. William Woods will conclude the Grand View University Tournament at 2 p.m. on Saturday with a match against Ashford University.
