FULTON, Mo.—The William Woods men's soccer team travels on the road tomorrow afternoon in search of its fourth straight victory, as the Owls face Park University at 7:00 p.m.
The Owls (9-6; 6-2 AMC), are on a three game winning streak, outscoring their opponents 12-2 in the process. Their last time out, the team scored a season high seven goals against Lyon College, with
Marcelo Carreiro and
Kyle Konigsberg each having two goals.
Jacob Hawes,
Jordan Bay and
Alex Severino added one goal apiece.
Carreiro also added an assist against Lyon College and with his five point outburst, the senior is now tied for first all-time in career points at William Woods, totaling 104.
The offense has been dominant up top during these last three games, having a combined shot advantage against Williams Baptist, Freed-Hardeman and Lyon College of 53-27. Carreiro and Konigsberg have led the Owls totaling three goals each and have added one assist for seven points through three games.
In goal,
Evan Melone has played very well in 235:03 minutes, making 10 saves for a save percentage of 0.833 and having a goals against average at a mere 0.766.
With winning its last three games and four out of its last seven, the Owls stand alone in second place in the AMC with two conferene games to go and are a half game behind overall leader Columbia College. The Pirates (7-5; 5-2 AMC), however, are themselves just a half game behind William Woods, holding down the third place position and owning the tiebreaker against Hannibal-LaGrange University, whom they beat earlier this season 2-0.
Like the Owls, the Pirates are catching fire as the regular season is coming to a close and conference playoffs being right around the corner. Park has won six out of its last seven games, including defeating 15
th ranked Columbia College 2-1 in overtime on October 17
th.
On offense, Park is led by Carlos Trombini Filho scoring a team high seven goals, while adding three assists for 17 points on the season. George Kennedy is second on the team in the goal column, knocking in four and contributing four assists, for 12 points.
Kiel Williams, Ronaldo Falcao and Ignacio Flores Garay each have two goals on the season, with Williams having a team high five assists.
In net,
Ryan Miller and Reece Harris have split time on the season, with Miller appearing in the most games with seven, earning a goals against average of 1.41 and having a save percentage of .714 in 640:00 minutes played.
