Box Score ST.LOUIS, Mo.—The William Woods University men's soccer team earned themselves a hard fought 2-1 victory over Harris-Stowe State University on Saturday afternoon.
The Owls (6-5; 3-1 AMC), trailed HSSU just 5:00 minutes into the game, as the Hornets grabbed the early 1-0 lead. WWU responded in the 26
th minute, as
Jesse Jordan scored his second goal on the season on an assist from
Joao Paulo Parra, tying the game up at 1-1. William Woods outshot the Hornets 8-1 in the first half, but the game remained tied heading into halftime.
In the second half,
Alex Severino scored the eventual game winner off a corner kick from
Kyle Konigsberg to make it 2-1 game. The team, who has been playing very well defensively and in goal, was able to hold on for the one goal victory.
Evan Melone picked up his third victory on the season making four saves for the Owls. WWU had a shot advantage of 14-4 in the game, with
Sebastian Burich leading the team with three shots.
The team will be back in action on October 8
th at 7:00 p.m. on the road against conference leader and 20th ranked Columbia College.
