Box Score ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Priscila Santos turned in her eighth consecutive 20-point game to help the no. 22 William Woods University women's basketball team earn a 72-51 win over Missouri Baptist University on Wednesday night.
Santos, the reigning American Midwest Conference Player of the Week, scored 21 points and shot 10-of-15 from the field to help William Woods (23-4, 14-3 AMC) shoot 45.5 percent on the night.
The Owls held Missouri Baptist (10-19, 7-10 AMC) to a 28.2 percent performance on the night, including 15.8 percent from behind the arc.
After MBU started the game with a 6-0 lead, but the Owls were able to take its first lead of the game at 12-11 with a Santos basket at the 11:23 mark.
From that point neither team could gain more than a three-point lead as WWU held a 17-14 at the 7:30 mark. Senior
Ashlee Taylor's jumper would spark a 5-0 run to give the Owls an eight-point lead at 22-14.
William Woods built its first half lead to 10 points after a pair of
Destani Stensrud free throws, but a late Spartan would bring their deficit to just six points at the half.
The Owls came out of the locker room and scored the first six points of the second half as they took a double-digit lead at 36-24. William Woods would go on a 16-9 run over the next eight minutes to build a 19-point lead at 52-33.
William Woods extended its lead to 23 points in the second half before settling for the 72-51 win.

Stephanie Copelin joined Santos in double-figures as the duo each scored 10 points on the night.
The two squads ended the night dead even in the rebounding category at 33-all.
Katie Scherder grabbed a team-high nine rebounds on the night.
William Woods will be back in action on Saturday afternoon as they host no. 15 Columbia College. Saturday is senior day at WWU as women's program will be honoring Storjohann and Taylor. Tip-off for the AMC Top 25 matchup is set for 2 p.m.
