SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- Emily Becker's 20-kill performance wasn't enough as the William Woods University volleyball team dropped a 3-1 (23-25, 25-17, 21-25, 21-25) match to Tabor College in the first game of the Evangel University Tournament.
William Woods could not overcome a strong Bluejays team, at they dropped the first match of a three-match weekend at Evangel University. The Owls have lost six of their first seven games to start the season as they stand at 1-6 after tonight's defeat.
The 20 kills matches a career high for Becker, as she hit the total on Sept. 28 of last year against crosstown rival Westminster College in a four set match.
Becker once again etched her name into the William Woods record books, as the 20 kills are ties her own mark for the third-highest total in a four set match in school history,
Junior Abbie O'Mara collected a team-high 27 digs in the match, while sophomore Lauren Rodewald blocked a team-best three shots on the night.
William Woods will back in action tomorrow afternoon as they play a pair of games against College of the Ozarks and Evangel University.
The Owls will face the Lady Bobcats at 12 p.m., while they will take on host Evangel at 4 p.m. to close out the weekend.
