Volleyball Hosts Williams Baptist College In the AMC Quarterfinals On Tuesday

Becker leads the Owls with a team-high 364 kills on the year.
FULTON, Mo.—The William Woods University volleyball team will return to the court on Tuesday night in the American Midwest Conference (AMC) Quarterfinals, as the No. 4-seeded Owls will host No. 5-seed Williams Baptist College. First-serve is set for 7 p.m.

Park University owns the top seed and they will host No. 8-seeded Stephens College, while the other match-ups include No. 3 Columbia College hosting No. 6 Lindenwood University-Belleville and No. 2 Missouri Baptist hosting No. 7-seeded Lyon College. All games will start at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Owls (22-15; 8-4 AMC), have not played since November 6th and that was against Benedictine University at Springfield, where they won in straight sets (25-11, 25-21, 27-25). Emily Becker led them offensively, having a match-high 12 kills and an attack percentage of .500.

Brittney Engelbrecht added 24 assists, while defensively, Abbie O'Mara became the all-time leader in digs, having 2,216 in her career, after collecting 16 against the Bulldogs. O'Mara, a St. Peters, Missouri, native, was able to surpass the mark of 2,207 digs, set by Amanda Henley from 2009-2012.

With the win against BenU-Springfield, the team has won three out of its last four, with all of its victories being three set sweeps.

During the last four games, the Owls have totaled 162 kills and have been led by Becker, having 49 kills and an attack percentage of .372. Freshman Abbi
McKnelly has added 32 kills, while senior Kristen Bauer has contributed 23.

Engelbrecht has totaled 117 assists and 36 digs, while O'Mara has totaled a team-high 62 of the teams' 217 digs the last four outings.

On the season, Becker leads WWU offensively, having a team-high 364 kills and an attack percentage of .275, while also leading the Owls in service aces (47).

McKnelly is second on the team with 357 kills, while Bauer and Abby Ferguson have added 288 and 206 kills respectively. Engelbrecht, meanwhile, ranks 12th in the NAIA in total assists, having 1,298, while O'Mara is 21st in the NAIA, totaling 651 digs.

This will be the second meeting on the season between the Owls and Lady Eagles (19-14; 8-4 AMC), as during its last time out, back on September 19th, WWU won in three sets (25-17, 25-19, 25-23).

McKnelly and Cierra Merz led the way, having 10 kills each, while Bauer and Becker added nine. Engelbrecht totaled 32 assists and 12 digs, while O'Mara had 13 digs.

On the season, WBC is led by Jameea Ward, having a team-high 275 kills. Kallie Ralston has earned 259, while Harley Strayhorn has totaled 214 kills.

Jordan Harvey leads the Lady Eagles in assists (536), while Taylor Barton has also added 369 assists. On the defensive side of the net, Shelby Upshaw has collected a team-high 393 digs.
