Volleyball Looks For Its Seventh AMC Win Against Hannibal-LaGrange on Tuesday Night

Engelbrecht has totaled 1,244 assists on the year, which is 10th best in the NAIA.
HANNIBAL, Mo. – The William Woods University volleyball team will look to end its American Midwest Conference (AMC) regular season schedule on a strong note, as the team pays a visit to Hannibal-LaGrange University Tuesday night.  First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
 
The Owls (20-14; 6-4 AMC), look to bounce back from falling to No. 2-ranked Park University in three sets (17-25, 16-25, 18-25), last Saturday afternoon despite a stout team effort.
 
In the match, WWU totaled 26 kills against the Pirates. The Owls were led by junior Emily Becker led the team with a team-high 10 kills an attack percentage of .286. Freshman setter Brittney Engelbrecht added 25 assists and eight digs, while senior Abbie O'Mara led the way with a match-high 13 digs.
 
On the season, the team is 19th in the NAIA in kills with 1,582, as Abbi McKnelly leads the Owls with a team-high 343 kills and owns an attack percentage of .244. Becker, meanwhile, is second on the team with 342 kills, while she leads WWU with an attack percentage of .270, service aces (45) and blocks (91).
 
Senior Kristen Bauer is third on the team in kills (276), while freshman Abby Ferguson has contributed 198 kills, which is fourth best on the year.
 
Engelbrecht, has totaled 1,244 assists on the year, which ranks her No. 10th in the NAIA. The Jefferson City, Missouri native, also comes in at No. 37th in assists per game, averaging 9.640 on the year.
 
O'Mara, continues to lead the Owls defensively, collecting 620 digs on the season, ranking her No. 21st in the NAIA.
 
In its previous meeting against Hannibal-LaGrange last year, the Owls swept the Lady Trojans in three straight sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-19).
 
This season, HLG is currently 4-6 in the AMC and 6-24 overall. In their last outing, Hannibal-LaGrange defeated Harris-Stowe State in straight sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-18). In the outing Khristina Schellentrager led the way with a team-high 10 kills and 15 digs.
 
On the season, in the kill department, the Lady Trojans are led by senior Carli Penrod, as she has recorded 231 kills. Schellentrager is second on the team in kills with 193, while on the defensive side of the net, she has earned a team-best 270 digs.
 
Setter, Kelly Gould will also be a player to keep an eye out for, as she has totaled 519 assists on the year and leads the team with 44 service aces.
