Scheer was absolutely dominant on the mound for the Owls (19-14; 5-1 AMC), especially in game one, hurling a no-hitter in five innings of work, striking out a career-high 10 batters, while walking just one.

"Julie pitched extremely well for us tonight," said head coach Tracy Gastineau. "She kept their hitters off balance all night and had her four pitches working really well."

The offense, which has struggled as of late, broke out of its slump against the Eutectics (2-8), scoring 12 runs on 12 hits, as the team scored one in the first, four in the second, five in the third and two more in the fifth.

Pacing WWU at the plate, was the 2-3 hitters of Shelby LeCuru and Kacey Scharnhorst, combining to go 6-for-8, with three runs scored and three RBI. Emily Murphy went 1-for-4 at the plate, but totaled a season-high three RBI, while Hillary Hentges hit her second home run on the season and finished the game 1-for-3 and two RBI.

Grace Fritz, who transferred from East Central CC with Scheer, not only caught the no-hitter, but had success at the plate, going 2-for-2 with two runs scored and one RBI.

"Offensively, we hit the ball up the middle a lot and that is always a good sign that we are seeing the ball and making good contact," said Gastineau.

WWU jumped out to a quick 5-0 lead in the top of the first, and then went on to add six more runs in the fourth and fifth for the win. Eight Owls had at least two hits in the game, with Alexi Cavins going a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate and scoring three times.

Senior Lindsey LeCuru broke a 0-for-6 slide, going 2-for-3 with one run scored, hit her team-leading fifth home run on the year and tied Fritz with a game-high four RBI.

"We had great production up and down the lineup in both games and I feel this is a great start for us to getting back on track, after coming off a tough spring break week," said Gastineau. "Hopefully, that momentum will carry us into the six conference games we have tomorrow and this weekend."

The Owls jump back into action tomorrow afternoon, for a make-up doubleheader at Hannibal-LaGrange. First-pitch will be thrown at 2 p.m., with game two following at 4 p.m.
