Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 HANNIBAL, Mo.—It was another successful day on the mound and at the plate for the (RV) William Woods University softball team, as the Owls blanked Hannibal-LaGrange 9-0 in game one, while picking up its fourth straight shutout in game two, winning 5-0.

William Woods University 9 Hannibal-LaGrange 0 (6 innings)
The Owls (21-14; 7-1 AMC) totaled nine runs on 13 hits in game one, and jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, as Lindsey LeCuru singled to center, scoring her sister Shelby LeCuru from third, who reached base earlier in the inning on a Lady Trojan (11-18; 4-8 AMC) defensive error.

WWU put the game away in the top of the second, as after a single, an error and a walk, Shelby LeCuru hit a bases clearing single to right field, helped out by an error by the right fielder, which even allowed Shelby LeCuru to score from first on the error.

Two batters later, Macy Wierschem doubled to left-center, scoring Kacey Scharnhorst, which extended the Owls lead to 6-0 after two innings of play.

That lead was more than enough for senior MacKenzie Bowden, who picked up her 11th victory on the year in her complete game outing, allowing just four hits and striking out six.

The Owls would go on to add another run in the third and two more in the sixth, which sparked the eight-run mercy rule after five innings of play and the team picked up its third straight shutout with the nine run victory.

Each starter had at least one hit in the game, led by Scharnhorst going 3-for-4 with one run scored, while Wierschem went 2-for-2 with one run scored and one RBI. Shelby LeCuru was the leading RBI getter (3), to go along with her 1-for-4 day at the plate and scoring twice.

Just yesterday, junior transfer Julie Scheer threw the Owls first no-hitter on the season against St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Schemmer, joined in on the success, nearly hurling her second no-hitter against Hannibal-LaGrange, but allowed just one hit in seven innings of work and threw only 51 pitches.

Now the home team in game two, William Woods again took a 1-0 lead in the first, as Lindsey LeCuru doubled to left-center, scoring Scharnhorst who reached base on a walk.

The Owls maintained its one-run advantage the next three innings and then were able to take a 2-0 lead, as Caroline Sicht singled to right field, scoring Wierschem from third. The offense would tally three more runs in the home half of the sixth on three hits, getting RBI from Shelby LeCuru, Scharnhorst and Lindsey LeCuru, and the team went on for the six-run win behind the fantastic pitching performance of Schemmer.

The offense totaled nine hits in the finale, with Lindsey LeCuru, Emily Murphy, Sicht and Hannah Campbell getting two hits each, while Shelby LeCuru added the other hit in the game.

The Owls finally return home after a two-week long road trip, as they square off against Mid-Continent University on Friday April 4th. First-pitch will be thrown at 2 p.m., with game two to follow thereafter at 4 p.m.
