Men's Soccer 2015 Season Comes To A Close At Park University

Moscatello recorded his ninth goal on the season
Box Score PARKVILLE, Mo. –The No.6-seeded William Woods University men's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to an end in the hands of  No. 3-seeded Park University on Saturday, as the Pirates move on to the AMC semifinal game with a 4-1 win over WWU.

The Owls (9-7-3; 5-3-3 AMC) knew it was going to be a hard fought battle on Saturday going on the road for the AMC Tournament Quarterfinal game but the Owls were hungry for an upset. The match-up started just like the one between both teams earlier this season, which ended in a (2OT) 1-1 draw.

WWU put the pressure on the Pirates early, as Jesse Jordan's shot at the 8:18 mark was saved by Park University's goalie Lucas Vallilo, however the Pirates, maintained the momentum after Ignacio Flores recorded three consecutive shots, that in Owls favor couldn't find the back on the net.

Both team's defense was hard at work, while neither team was backing down, but it was the Pirates who would draw blood first, as a corner kick was awarded to Park, Lucas Souza placed a ball perfectly in the box for Tim Kloster to capture his fourth goal of the season and put the Pirates up 1-0.

Then shortly after, at the 43:29 mark the Pirates would add another goal to the score board, as Souza handed out his second assist  of the day, to Flores who found the back of the bet for his sixth goal of the season, making the score 2-0 .

With seconds winding down until the horn at half, Rodrigo Alves, tried to get the Owls on the board with a shot that hit the right post and bounced off, which sounded the horn for the first 45:00 minutes of play completed, giving Park University the 2-0 advantage heading into the locker room.

William Woods was outshot 12-5 in the first half, as Jordan led the way for the two shots.

Coming out of the second half,  the Owls were in hope to spark a boast of energy offensively, but the Pirates defense stayed diligent holding them to just () shot.

Park's offensive continued to strive, as Flores knocked in his second goal and the team's third goal of the day at the 58th minute, as the Pirates took a commanding 3-0 lead over WWU. Park didn't stop there, as Mirko Sandivari buried his second goal of the season to push the Pirates out to a 4-0 lead.

Then at the 81st mark, the Owls broke the scoreless streak, after Alex Severino stole a pass from Park University and passed up the field to Anthony Moscatello who buried his ninth goal of the season, to make the score 4-1.

Despite the valiant effort from the Owls, the Pirates went on to secure the 4-1 victory, ending the Owls season and moving on to the AMC semifinal game on Monday November 8th.

William Woods ended the day with nine shots, as Moscatello recorded the lone goal of the day, while Jordan and Alves collected two shots a piece. In the net, Bridger Pretz amassed six saves on the day.
