FULTON, Mo.—The No. 19-ranked William Woods University softball team will look to pick up two more wins in front of the home crowd on Monday afternoon, as the Owls host a doubleheader against Benedictine University at Springfield. First-pitch will be thrown at 1 p.m.

The team was scheduled to play at Missouri Baptist and Harris-Stowe on Friday and Saturday this past weekend, but due to weather conditions, the games have been rescheduled near the end of April.

The Owls (7-10), are coming off a 2-0 showing against Culver-Stockton College in its last time out on Tuesday, as they won game one in wild fashion 9-8 (8 innings) and the offense took over in game two, winning 10-4.

With the two wins, the Owls have now won four out of its last five games, and have gotten its offense going during that stretch, as the team is now batting .297 the last five outings.

Leading the way has been sophomore
Hillary Hentges, who is 4-for-7 (.571 avg), with one run scored, one home run, three RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.000. Another sophomore,
Hannah Campbell, is batting .400 (4-for-10), with four runs scored and one RBI, while going a perfect 5-of-5 on the base paths.

Senior
Kacey Scharnhorst is third on the team in average (.400) the last five games, but leads the Owls in hits (six), runs scored (five) triples (two), RBI (six) and total bases (13).

On the rubber, the trio of
Julie Scheer,
Allison Waskow and
Bre Logan have combined for a 2.53 ERA and 37 strikeouts, while opposing hitters are batting just .200 against the staff.

Scheer is 2-0 with a 0.00 ERA in 7.2 innings of work, while Waskow is 2-1 in her last three starts, working 21.0 innings, allowing seven earned runs and striking out a team-high 23 batters.

On the season, the offense has upped its season average to .284 and are led by junior
Emily Murphy, hitting .422 in 15 appearances, while adding six runs scored, a team-high six doubles and seven RBI.

Sydnae Hatton is batting .313 in 17 games and is third on the team with seven runs scored. Scharnhorst, meanwhile, is now batting .308 (16-for-52), with eight runs scored and has tallied 10 RBI.

Campbell continues to impress in her sophomore season, hitting .292 and leads the team with 12 runs scored and eight stolen bases, while
Caroline Sicht is batting .286, and is bringing the power with two home runs and 12 RBI.

Inside the circle, Waskow leads the Owls staff with a 3.52 ERA and owns a 3-5 record in a team-high 11 appearances. The Canton, Illinois, native, has thrown in 53.2 innings, allowing 27 runs and has struck out a team-high 46 batters.

Logan, a Columbia, Missouri, native, is 2-2 on the year with a 4.48 ERA in 40.2 innings pitched and has totaled 32 strikeouts, while Scheer is 2-3 in five starts and has added up 10 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.

Benedictine University at Springfield is currently 1-14 overall (1-3 AMC) on the season, with the only win coming against St. Louis College of Pharmacy on March 13
th.

The Bulldogs are currently hitting .249 as a team on the season, with 10 doubles, two triples, and three homeruns.

Laney Thacker (7-for-21) and Katie Stapleton (10-for-30) are leading the Bulldogs in batting average at .333. Jennifer Jennings adds the power for Benedictine-Springfield, as two of her nine hits have been homeruns.

On the rubber, senior Katie Stapelton leads the Bulldogs, as she has appeared in 26.0 innings, allowing 30 earned runs and has struck out 27 batters. Abbie Watton has the only win for Benedictine-Springfield, as she has thrown in 23.2 innings pitched, while adding 10 strikeouts.
