BELLEVILLE, Ill.—The William Woods University softball team will look to snap its two game skid on Monday evening, as the Owls pay a visit to Lindenwood University-Belleville. First-pitch will be thrown at 4 p.m.
The Owls (15-16; 4-2 AMC), are coming off two tough losses against Park University in its last time out, as they dropped game one 4-1 and game two 8-5, with all five runs coming off the bat of senior
Kacey Scharnhorst, which was highlighted by a third inning grand slam.
On the season, the Owls rank 14
th in the NAIA in triples (11), 32
nd in total batters struck out (160) and 38
th in opponent batting average (.250).
At the plate, WWU has a team batting average of .285, while totaling 43 doubles, 10 home runs and 117 RBI. Leading the way has been junior
Emily Murphy, having a .375 average in 28 games, while totaling nine runs scored, eight doubles and 17 RBI.
Scharnhorst, a St. Peters, Missouri, native, has upped her average to .323, while scoring 14 runs, a team-high five triples, two home runs and also leads the Owls in RBI (30). Leadoff hitter,
Hannah Campbell, has a .307 average and leads the team in runs scored (25) and stolen bases (17), while
Sydnae Hatton is batting .305 in 30 starts, while scoring 15 runs.
Senior
Caroline Sicht, meanwhile, leads the team with four home runs, while tallying 16 RBI, to go along with her .270 average.
On the rubber, freshman
Allison Waskow leads the trio of pitchers, as she is 7-9 on the year with a 2.53 ERA in 20 appearances. The Canton, Illinois, native, has totaled 12 complete games, four shutouts in 99.2 innings pitched and has struck out 85 batters.
Bre Logan, a Columbia, Missouri, native, has earned a 6-4 record in 13 starts, has an ERA of 3.60 in 81.2 innings of work, while striking out 65 batters and holding opposing hitters to a .234 average.
Lindenwood-Belleville (15-17; 8-4 AMC), is coming off two defeats in its last time out as well, falling to Lyon College 6-2 in game one and 4-0 in the finale. The Lady Lynx have had its struggles as of late, dropping six out of its last eight games.
On the year, LU-Belleville, has a .271 team batting average and are led by Jamie Navarro's .378 average, while totaling 14 runs scored, 11 RBI and 10 stolen bases. Makayla Powers is second on the team in average (.355), while owning a .403 on-base percentage.
Taylor Winn has a .321 average and has totaled two home runs, while Mikayla Conlin leads the Lady Lynx with three home runs and 14 RBI, while owning a .279 average at the plate.
Inside the circle, Michele Pilster leads the pitching staff, as she is 6-6 on the season, with a 2.88 ERA in 80.1 innings pitched and has struck out 58 batters. Taylor Winn also has six wins in 11 starts, while having a 3.08 ERA and leads the Lady Lynx with 66 strikeouts.
