COLUMBIA, Mo.- William Woods University Athletics Hall of Famer Tracy Gastineau is set to be inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, as announced late last week.
Gastineau, a long-time staple in the Owls softball dugout, will begin her 29th season at the helm next spring. Her teams have compiled an 867-613 record, the most wins in school history. It is also the seventh-most by any active softball coach in the NAIA and the ninth-most all-time by any softball coach in the NAIA.
"It is an honor to be recognized alongside so many great coaches, administrators, and teams in Missouri." noted Gastineau. "I've been blessed to have so many wonderful people in my life throughout my coaching career…my family, my coaches, colleagues, assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and of course my players. I wouldn't be where I am today without them, nor would I enjoy what I do so much. I'm thankful and grateful to have done that here at William Woods."
Her teams have advanced to 15 NAIA National Championship Tournaments, along with four AMC regular-season championships. Since 1998, her teams have boasted 23 NAIA and NFCA All-Americans and numerous All-Region selections. Among AMC awards, Gastineau has coached 147 AMC All-Conference players, five Players of the Year, four Pitchers of the Year, five Newcomers of the Year and four Freshmen of the Year.
Coach Gastineau is a five-time AMC Coach of the Year, and her teams have earned several AMC Team of Character awards. She graduated from William Woods College in 1993, where she was a two-sport athlete in softball and basketball. That came after a very successful high school career at New Bloomfield High School, where she was twice named All-State in basketball and earned All-District and All-Conference honors on both the hardwood and the diamond. The 1986 and 1988 basketball teams won Class 1 state titles, with Gastineau's teams suffering only five losses in her four seasons.
The Class of 2026 induction ceremony will be held on Oct. 25, with a noon reception followed by the 1 p.m. ceremony at the Wyndham Executive Center-Columbia Mall.
