FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Volleyball team closed out its home portion of the 2016 season in fashion as they swept College of the Ozarks, 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-22) on Saturday afternoon at Anderson Arena.

With the victory the Owls defeated the Bobcats twice this season. Leading the way for the Owls was senior
Victoria Day with 14 kills on the day. Senior
Stephanie Davis followed with 13 kills in the match.
Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 32 assists in the match. The Owls had eight blocks in the match.

The Owls return to action on Tuesday, November 1st when they travel to Evangel University for a non-conference match. The match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.

Game Flow
The Owls and Bobcats were locked in a high contested first set as after the first 10 points of the set, the Owls and Bobcats were tied at 5-5. After being tied at five, the Bobcats scored the next two points looking as if they would pull away but the Owls answered right backing tying the match at 7-7. The set stayed close for the remainder of the set, and after an ace by
Melanie Kala the match was tied at 15-15. After it was tied the Bobcats grew a lead out to three points, 19-16. The Owls came back tying it at 19-19 before coming back and taking the lead. A kill by
Kira Krebill gave the Owls the first set, 25-23.

Like the first set the Owls and Bobcats found themselves locked into a tight contest as they found themselves tied at 5-5 after the first 10 points of the set. After a Davis kill, the Owls found themselves ahead 8-7. WWU slowly started to pull away as they stretched a lead to 16-12 after a Day kill. WWU continued to hold a four-point lead in the contest as another Davis kill put the Owls ahead 21-17. William Woods stretched the lead to six points, 24-18, after a ball heading error by Rielly Dobbs. College of the Ozarks came back scoring the next three points by a Krebill kill gave the Owls the set, 25-21, and a 2-0 lead.

William Woods raced out to a quick 6-1 lead in the third set of the match as they scored four straight points on kills by Davis, Krebill and Engelbrecht and an attack error by the Bobcats. College of the Ozarks would not go away as they battled back tying the match at 7-7. The third set then would go back and forth as both teams only held one points leads. With the Owls leading 17-16, after a Bobcat attack error, College of the Ozarks answered back. College of the Ozarks scored the next three points taking a 19-17 lead. WWU answered right back with back to back kills by Day tying the match at 19-19. Both teams traded leads and with the match at 21-21, a Davis kill gave WWU a one point lead. After taking the lead the Owls did not give up the lead again. A kill by Davis, gave the Owls a 25-22, third set victory.
