BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The William Woods University Volleyball team advanced to the American Midwest Conference Semifinals after defeating Lindenwood Univeristy-Belleville, 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-22) on Tuesday night in AMC Quarterfinals action. The Owls were the only road team to win in the AMC Quarterfinals.

Stephanie Davis led the Owls with 10 kills in the match, while
Brittney Engelbrecht followed with nine.
Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 25 assists, while
Victoria Day had 14 digs in the match to lead the Owls. On the match, the Owls collected 13 blocks compared to the Lynx four.

With five block assists in the AMC Quarterfinals,
Stephanie Davis passes,
Emily Becker for the most career block assists for the Owls. Davis total now sits at 303 block assists in her four year career.

WWU will take on top seed, Park University, in the AMC Semifinals at 4 p.m. at Petty SRC on the campus of Missouri Baptist University on Friday November 11.

Game Flow
Set one was a point for point battle and kills by
Abby Ferguson and
Brittney Engelbrecht put the Owls down, 3-2. Owl mistakes would give the Lynx an early lead of two, 6-4. It was not until
Kayton Coffee would have her service run which included a kill by Engelbrecht that tied the match, 7-7. The set would then go point for point and would be tied four times until the Lynx ran away with a two-point lead, 17-15. A service run by
Victoria Day would give the Owls the spark they needed to gain the lead over the Lynx, 20-19. A kill by Lynx Stephanie Cathart would threaten the Owls, but kills by
Kira Krebill would give the Owls a two-point lead, 24-22. The Lynx would score one more point before finally falling to the Owls, 25-23.

Set two would begin with neither team taking control until a service run by
Jessica Jensen. The run included two kills by Engelbrecht and two kills from
Stephanie Davis, giving the Owls a three-point lead, 7-4. The Owls would not stop there as they continued to hold the lead even with the Lynx threatening with two kills from Erin Ladeairous, 9-7. A service run by
Kameryn Bellinger would stretch the Owls lead to 14-9. The Lynx would fight back chipping away at the lead, finally cutting it down to five, 18-13. Ferguson would stop their run with a kill and pave the way for teammate Coffee to have another service run which included kills by Davis putting the Owls ahead, 21-13. The Lynx would score five in a row, cutting the lead to four, 22-19, but a kill from Davis would end the streak. Back-to-back kills by
Tory Wiley and Day would clinch the second set, 25-19, for the Owls.

Set three would begin with the Lynx coming out strong with an early two-point lead, 5-3, after a kill by Ladeairous. The Owls would quickly come back, tying the set after a kill by Jensen, 5-5. The set would then go back and forth until the Lynx took a six-point lead, 15-9, with the lead with kills by Cathcart and Diana Shamroski. The Owls fought back, and with key kills from team leaders Engelbrecht and Davis found themselves down 18-12. A service run by Day would cut the Lynx lead down to four, 18-14. The two teams continued to fight for the lead, and a service run by Engelbrecht would put the Owls ahead, 21-20. A kill by Cathcart would tie the set, 21-21. A timely hit by Wiley would put the ball back in Owls hands with
Melanie Kala serving, 23-22. The Owls would take set three after the Lynx could not gain another point ultimately falling to the Owls, 25-22.
