Box Score FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Men's Tennis program won its first ever match on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated Oakland City University, 9-0, at Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex on the campus of William Woods University.
In the victory, the Owls only dropped three sets the entire match against Oakland City.
In doubles action,
David Barbieri and Adam Deen Quarban won, 8-0, over Nathan Sparks and Jacob Hughen. Two of the three sets that were dropped came in doubles. In no. 2 doubles action,
Marcos Vinicius Prates Constantino and
Stefan Simic won 8-1, while
Christian Barbieri and
Jelmer Van Vliet won 8-1, in No. 3 singles.
The Owls cruised in singles action as D. Barbieri, C. Barbieri,
Johnnie Carmichael, Simic and Van Vliet all won in straight sets over their opponents.
Constantino won 6-0, 6-1, to earn the 9-0 win for the Owls and claim the first match victory in the history of the men's tennis program at William Woods.
The Owls return to action tomorrow when they travel to Overland Park, Kan. to face Ottawa University at the Overland Park Racquet Club starting at 1 p.m.
