FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Softball team swept visiting Goshen College on Saturday. The Owls took game one, 14-0, in five innings before taking game two, 6-5, in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Game One
Game FlowBre Logan came out dealing for the Owls as she kept the Leafs bats quiet for entire game. Logan did not allow Goshen to collect a hit for the entire contest but drew for four walks off Logan.

Once the Owls came to the plate, the offense was clicking.
Sydnae Hatton drew a walk to start the game and stole second base, and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by
Sierra Jacques. Hatton came in to score on a
Brailee Schulte single to get the runs started for the Owls. Schulte came around to score on a
Madison McCormick single putting the Owls ahead, 2-0.
Alexi Cavins doubled to left field, which scored two, and putting the Owls ahead 4-0 after the first inning.

After Logan set the Leafs down in order in the second, Hatton led off the bottom of the second inning with an inside the park homerun to right center field. The run put the Owls ahead 5-0.

The Owls blew the game open in the bottom of the third inning. William Woods scored six runs on five hits and took advantage of three Goshen errors. Jacques doubled in the inning leading to two runs for the Owls. After three innings were complete, the Owls lead, 11-0.

Brooke Maes led off the fourth inning for Goshen with a walk, however, Logan settled down and retired the next three batters ending the inning.

William Woods stretched the lead out to 14-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning as they scored three runs in the inning. WWU took advantage of two errors by Goshen to extend its lead. After a dropped fly ball, the Owls went on to score all four runs after the two errors by the Leafs.

Logan continued her strong performance in the top of the fifth inning, as she retired the first batter of the inning. Brianna Sherman drew a walk before the next two batters were retired and WWU took game one, 14-0 in five innings.

Game Two
Game FlowLike Game one, the Owls jumped all over the Leafs as they scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning. In the bottom of the first inning,
Beth Begemann tripled to left center scoring two for the Owls. With the bases loaded,
Madison McCormick drew a walk scoring one. Alli Massy followed with a single to center platting another run and putting the Owls ahead, 4-0.

The lead did not last long for the Owls as Goshen battled back in the top of the second inning. The Leafs scored five runs in the top of the second inning, taking a one run lead, 5-4, after the inning. Goshen took advantage of William Woods mistakes. With the bases loaded, Brooke Maes struck out swinging, however, the ball got away from the Owls catcher and the Leafs came around to score two runs.

The game remained tied as neither team could get anything going until the bottom of the seventh inning. With one out, Hentges singled to center field. Hatton came in to run for her and stole second base and advanced to third on a wild pitch. After a walk put runners on the corners,
Olivia Imhoff stole second base. Hatton came in to tie the game on a fielder's choice where the shortstop tried to get Imhoff out and third but failed. With the game tied at 5-5 and runners on the second and third,
Brailee Schulte singled up the middle scoring Imhoff and winning the game for the Owls, 6-5.
