Box Score 2 BELLEVILLE, Ill. – The William Woods University Men's Tennis team took both its matches on Friday as the Owls defeated Baker University, 5-2, before defeating Saint Louis College of Pharmacy, 6-0.
WWU vs. Baker
William Woods defeated Baker, 5-2, opening its day. The Owls took two of the three doubles matches against the Wildcats as
Johnnie Carmichael and
Stefan Simic won No. 2 doubles, 8-3. The Owls other point in doubles came in No. three doubles when
Christian Barbieri and
David Barbieri won 8-2. The Owls dropped No. 1 doubles, 8-6.
Bakers second point of the came in No. 1 singles. Spartak Rahachou defeated
Elias Fernandez, 6-1, 6-1. After the Wildcats took the second point of the match, the Owls did not allow the Wildcats to claim another point on the day.
Christian Barbieri defeated Taylor Ficke, 6-1, 6-1, in No. 2 singles.
Johnnie Carmichael defeated Gavin Webster, 6-2, 6-4, in No. 4 singles.
Jelmer Van Vliet claimed the fifth point of the match, clinching the win for the Owls, with a 6-2, 6-2, win over Aaron Greenbaum.
Stefan Simic and
Marcos Vinicius Prates Constantino matches were not finished. The Owls took the match, 5-2.
WWU vs. St. Louis Pharmacy
The Owls defeated Saint Louis Pharmacy, 6-0, on Friday. William Woods took all six singles matches to win the match against Pharmacy. In No. 1 singles,
Elias Fernandez defeated Corey Thompson, 6-2, 6-1. Christian Barbiri defeated Justin Weigal 6-1, 6-0, in No. 2 singles
Marcos Vinicius Prates Constantino defeated Andy Sickley in No. 3 singles, 6-1, 6-0. In no. 4 singles, Sefan Simic defeated Sheldon Taylor, 6-1, 6-1.
Jelmer Van Vliet won in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0, against Luke Winchester in No. 5 singles.
David Barbieri defeated George win 6-0, 6-1, in no. 6 singles.
The Owls and Pharmacy did not play start its doubles matches.
The Owls return to action on Wednesday, April 20th at 4 p.m. when they host Lindenwood University – Belleville at the Suzanne Neal Memorial Tennis Complex.
