Box Score FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University Men's Tennis team continued its winning ways on Saturday afternoon as they defeated Missouri Baptist University, 6-3, at the Suzanne Memorial Tennis Complex on the campus of William Woods University.
The Owls feel behind early on Saturday before mounting a comeback. The Spartans took two-of-three doubles matches over the Owls. The lone doubles match win for the Owls was by
Johnnie Carmichael and
Stefan Simic in No. 2 doubles in which the Owls won in a tiebreaker, 9-8.
William Woods bounced back in singles action as they claimed five-of-the six matches.
Elias Fernandez defeated Lucas Oliverira, 7-5, 6-4, in No. 1 singles.
Christian Barbieri defeated Quinton Argent, 6-2, 6-0, in No. 2 singles. Carmichael and
Marcos Vinicius Prates Constantino won in third and fourth singles. Carmichael won 6-2, 7-5, while Constantino defeated 6-4, 7-5.
The Owls also took No. 5 singles, as Dylan Walker retired in the second set.
The lone single the Owls dropped was No. 6 singles as
Jelmer Van Vliet was defeated by Sean Nanney, 4-6, 6-3 (10-5).
The Owls return to action next week when they travel to Olathe, Kan. for the conference tournament.
