Softball Hosts Pharmacy, Sunday at Backer Field

FULTON, Mo. — The William Woods University Softball team returns to Backer Field on Sunday afternoon when they host American Midwest Conference (AMC) St. Louis College of Pharmacy in a doubleheader. The doubleheader is set to start at 1 p.m.
 
Prior to the Owls hosting the Eutectics on Sunday, William Woods travels to Hannibal, Mo. on Saturday to face Hannibal-LaGrange University.
 
Sunday's game is the Owls "Think Pink" game. The Owls will assist in raising funds for cancer awareness.

The Owls enter this weekend with (16-21, 5-7 AMC), are returning to action after sweeping Stephens College in a doubleheader on April 5th. The Owls took game one, 14-1 before taking game two, 6-3.
 
On the season, William Woods holds a team batting average of .295, with 172 runs scored, 54 doubles, six triples, 13 home runs and 156 RBI.
 
Leading the way is Sydnae Hatton as she is hitting .367 (44-for-120) on the season. She has five doubles, two triples and one homerun as well as collecting 12 RBI on the season. Following Hatton is Brailee Schulte, who is hitting .341 (31-for-91) on the season with six doubles and three home runs while driving in a team-high 29 runs.
 
Inside the circle, Allison Waskow leads the team with an earned run average (ERA) 2.86 in her 21 games she has appeared in. Waskow has pitched a team-high 112.2 innings this year while picking up eight wins. Sierra Jacques comes into the weekend with an ERA of 3.41 and six on the season.
 
As a team, the Owls hold an ERA of 3.42. WWU is only allowing teams to hit .268 on the season with 39 extra base hits. The Owls pitching staff has struck out 143 batters on the season.

St. Louis Pharmacy enters Sunday's match-up with a record of 4-17 on the season and 2-14 in AMC action. Pharmacy split its last doubleheader on April 5th against Crowley's Ridge College. The Eutectics took game one, 6-4, before dropping game two, 8-3.

As a team, Pharmacy is hitting .229 on the season and have collected 108 hits, including 14 doubles, three triples and five home runs. Leading the way is Kelsey Toler, who is hitting .356 on the season. Right behind her is Allison Dewald, who is hitting .339.Toler leads the teams in RBIs as she has driven in 10 runs this season. Tolder and Dewald both have combined to hit six doubles, two triples and two home runs this season.

On the mound, Pharmacy has an ERA of 8.89 on the season and are allowing opponents to hit .347 on the season. Kristen Kolkmeyer has the lowest ERA on the team with an ERA of 5.56 in 68 innings. Kolkmeyer leads the team in Wins with four.
