BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The William Woods University Volleyball team went 2-2 this past weekend at the Barker Chevrolet Classic hosted by Illinois Wesleyan College.

The Owls return to action on Tuesday, September 13th when they open up American Midwest Conference play. The Owls will travel to Hannibal-LaGrange University and the match starts at 7 p.m.

Day One
Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology vs. WWU
The Owls were defeated in its first game of the tournament by Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, 3-0 (17-25, 17-25, 18-25) to open play at the Barker Chevrolet Classic. Leading the way for the Owls was
Victoria Day and
Tory Wiley. Day recorded a team high 11 kills in the match and Wiley followed with nine.

Brittney Englebrecht dished out a team-high 31 assists. The Owls recorded 16 attack errors in the match and hit .221 for the match.
Jessica Jensen,
Kameryn Bellinger and Engelbrecht all had one ace in the match.

Illinois Wesleyan vs. WWU
The Owls were locked in a highly contested match against the NCAA Division III AVCA No. 21 team in the nation, Illinois Wesleyan. The Owls took two of the first three sets but could not find a way to win the fourth or fifth set and were defeated, 3-2 (27-25, 26-28, 25-23, 26-28, 7-15).

WWU struggled in the fifth set as they compiled a hitting percentage of -.048 for the fifth set, while Illinois Wesleyan had a hitting percentage of .348. Day led the Owls with 17 kills while freshman
Kira Krebill collected a season-high 16 kills to follow day.

Engelbrecht dished out 59 assists in the match, which is a season-high and the fourth most assists in Owls history for a single game. Jensen record 50 digs in the match, and is only the second player in WWU history to record 50 digs in a match.

Day Two
WWU vs. MacMurray
The Owls came out swinging in its third game of the Barker Chevrolet Classic. William Woods defeat MacMurray, 3-0 (25-5, 25-9, 25-19). The Owls were led by
Victoria Day who had eight kills on the match, and Wiley and
Karlie Meeks followed with five kills apiece.

Kameryn Bellinger recorded six aces in the match and
Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 24 assists on the match. The win for the Owls was its eighth win of the season.

Lake Forest vs. WWU
William Woods concluded its Barker Chevrolet Classic, with a sweep of Lake Forest College, 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-9). Leading the way for the Owls was Wiley with 16 kills in the match. She was the only Owls player to record double-figure kills in the match.

The Owls recorded seven aces in the match compared to one for the Foresters. Leading the Ace attack for the Owls was
Jessica Jensen and
Brittney Engelbrecht with two apiece. Engelbrecht also dished out a team high 33 assists in the match for the Owls.
Jessica Jensen recorded 18 digs for the Owls.Â
