FULTON, Mo.—The William Woods Volleyball team falls to Missouri Valley College, 3-1 (25-22, 8-25, 23-25, 11-25) in their first home game since August 30th.

Stephanie Davis led the Owls with eight kills on the day.
Brittney Engelbrecht dished out a team high 29 assists and
Jessica Jensen had 23 digs to lead the Owls.

William Woods returns to action on Friday, September 23rd when they travel to Henderson, Tennessee to face Freed-Hardeman University in the AMC Volleyball Game of the Week. The match starts at 6 p.m.

Game Flow
In the first set, the Owls scored the first seven of ten points and led 7-3. Missouri Valley continued to battle and after a
Victoria Day kill the Owls found themselves ahead by three, 10-7. The Vikings continued to battle and tied the match at 10-10 but a kill by
Kira Krebill put the Owls back in the lead. After a kill by Hailey Criswell would start the rally and the first time the Vikings would take the lead. The Owls came back and tied the set at 15-15 taking advantage of Viking mistakes. The two teams would then fight point for point and after a kill by
Stephanie Davis and a service ace by
Kayton Coffee, the Owls would come out with the win, 25-22.

In set two the Vikings would score the first 11 of 15 points, taking an 11-4 lead over WWU. The Owls would then take advantage of Viking mistakes but the Owls struggled getting anything going offensively in the set. The Owls compiled a hitting percentage of -0.148 in the second. Missouri Valley took the second set, 25-8, tying the match at 1-1.

The Owls came out fighting in the third set going point for point with the Vikings. With the match tied at 5-5, the Owls scored the next two points on a kill by Engelbrecht, and Davis. WWU stretched the lead to 12-7, after another Engelbrecht kill. The Owls kept the lead with a kill by Davis, and a service run from
Jessica Jensen, 17-14. After a kill by Emily Dodge, the Vikings tie the set up at 19-19. The Owls were aggressive, but fell short in finding the court and fell to the Vikings, 25-23.

Moving in to set four, the two teams fought point for point and the Vikings took a 4-3 lead after a kill from Dakota Santore. Santore's kill helped the Vikings pull away from the Owls in the fourth set as Missouri Valley slowly stretched the lead to 12-6, after an Owls attack error. WWU could not get any momentum going on the offensive end as they dropped the fourth set, 25-11 and the match, 3-1.
