FULTON, Mo. — The William Woods University Volleyball team improve to 4-0 in American Midwest Conference (AMC) action on Friday night with a sweep, 3-0 (25-16, 25-17, 25-13), over Lyon College at Anderson Arena.

Victoria Day led the Owls with 11 kills and
Stephanie Davis followed with 10.
Brittney Engelbrecht dished out 28 assists in the match.

The Owls return to play tomorrow afternoon at 1 p.m. when the play Williams Baptist College at Anderson Arena.

Game Flow
In set one, the Owls came out strong, scoring the first seven out of ten points against the Scots, 7-3. After a kill by Day, the Owls scored two more, including a service ace by
Kayton Coffee. After a comfortable six-point lead,
Stephanie Davis added a kill of her own, making the set score 13-7. The Scots fought back and earned three points and Brittney Beckham added a kill making it, 16-11, Owls. The Owls ran away with the lead once more capitalizing on Scots errors, and a kill by
Kira Krebill putting WWU ahead 19-11. The Scots tried to make one more run, but a kill by Engelbrecht put the Owls to match point. The Owls took the set, 25-16, after a service error by Beckham. Â

The Scots came out scoring the first four of six points in set two, 4-2. The Owls continued battled back tying the match at 4-4 after an ace by
Melanie Kala and a ball handling error by Katarina Frickleton. The Scots would take the lead once more before Day added a kill, putting the Owls up 9-5. Engelbrecht and Davis would add a kill a piece, pushing the Owls lead to 12-7. After a few volleys,
Abby Ferguson would then add a kill of her own, extending the Owls lead to five, 15-10. A service run by Kala would add to the Owls taking the lead to seven, 19-12. The Scots fought back scoring three, but was shut down by a kill from Krebill and the Owls lead was down to five, 20-15. The Scots would score two more before the Owls shut the door taking match two, 25-17.

Set three was claimed early by the Owls when Day and Ferguson brought in two kills putting the Owls ahead 4-1. After a few rallies, Coffee would have a service run that included kills by Engelbrecht, Davis, and Day, the stretched its lead to 12-3. The Scots would add two points trimming the lead down to 13-5. Back-to-back kills by Davis and Wiley put the Owls ahead by ten, 15-5. The lead grew to 20-7 in favor of the Owls. Samantha Scalf put the Scots back on the board but the Owls led 20-8. After a kill by
Libby Dove, the Scots would fight back scoring three, set score 22-12. Kills by Davis and Dove would give the Owls a 12-point lead and with one more point for the Scots, and the Owls take set three 25-13.
