FULTON, Mo. – The William Woods University softball team will have their weekend home opener on Saturday, February 18 and Sunday, February 19 when they host Briar Cliff University on Saturday and No. 20 Central Methodist University on Sunday, both double headers scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

About the Owls
- The Owls are 3-2 after participating in the NAIA Cowtown Classic in Fort Worth, Texas last weekend.
- The Owls are currently No.1 in triples with six on the season, with Beth Begemann holding two of those triples ranking her third in the nation
- Begemann is also leading the Owls in RBIs with four
- Hannah Campbell is leading the Owls in hits with 11 hits on the season ranking her 17th in the nation and is also leading the Owls in batting average with a 0.611 making her 18th in the nation
- Freshman Madison Ausfahl is leading the NAIA in ERA, after throwing a one hitter against York College on February 10 at the NAIA Cowtown Classic
- The Owls pitching staff is holding opponents to hit .246 this season; while only allowing 2.19 earned runs on the season
- William Woods is outscoring opponents eight runs to two runs in the fourth inning this season

About the Chargers
- The Chargers will open their 2017 season at Stephens College on Friday, February 17 before they travel to play WWU
- In their 2016 season, the Chargers were 17-27 overall and were 6-16 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference putting them second to last in their conference standings
- Last season, returner Bailee Meyer had a 0.333 batting average with 24 hits, five doubles, and ten RBI's
- Last season, Ciara Dotzler led the Chargers pitching staff in ERA (3.57), wins (11), innings pitched (141.1), and strike outs (58)

About the Eagles
- The Eagles have a record of 2-4-1 on the season
- Central Methodists last contest they were defeated by Saint Mary in game one, 10-9, before playing to a 2-2 tie because of darkness
- As a pitching staff, the Eagles are ranked third in the nation in strike outs with 46, Alexis Kohrs leading with an average of 10.5 strikeouts and 21 on the season
- Alyssa Lily leads the Eagles offense with a batting average of a 0.435 and has collected 10 hits, with one double, one triple, one homerun, and eight RBI's
- Erin Erike leads the Eagle pitching staff with an ERA of 0.47 with one earned run.
- Alyson Fuemmeler leads in stolen bases with four on the season with an on base percentage of 0.438, and five hits
